FlexCare Platinum Connected is Philips' new electric toothbrush with Sonicare technology, which runs the smartphone app. The brush makes the “right” sweeping cleaning movements, and special sensors built into the housing help monitor the cleaning process and transfer all the information to the Philips Sonicare app, which provides useful tips. Based on the manufacturer's statements, all this avoids common mistakes when caring for the oral cavity. Synchronization with a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Thanks to personal instructions and tips of the application, as well as the nozzles that are included in the kit, people with different types of teeth and gums can use this device - both normal and sensitive. The model has 3 modes: to remove plaque, strengthen the gums and maintain the whiteness of the teeth. For each mode, you can adjust your intensity.

Overview of the FlexCare Platinum Connected Electric Toothbrush

It’s worth mentioning right away that Philips gives a 2 year warranty on oral care products. All Sonicare series electric brush models are clinically tested: Sonicare brushes remove 10 times more plaque than regular brushes. The basic models have slightly different characteristics, but all the manufacturer’s brushes, without exception, do not injure the enamel and do not harm the gums.

In a review of the FlexCare Platinum Connected HX9192, we offer to find out how the description of the innovative gadget is true, and whether this device is worth its money at all.

First impression of a “personal dentist”

First impression of a personal dentist

The appearance of the device attracts with a stylish ergonomic design. There is an indication informing about the charge level, intensity and mode of operation of the brush. Battery capacity lasts up to 14 days of daily use. Given the number of "buns" it is not surprising that the pen has a decent weight (268 g). However, it’s nice to hold the brush in your hands, you won’t find fault with the quality of the coating and assembly.

The device is delivered in a glossy box. On the front side is an image of an electric brush, the main features are described, and the sign of a quality certificate is indicated. Inside is the brush itself, two nozzles, a charger, a travel case and an instruction manual.

Control

The moment when you have to resort to instructions to get acquainted with the management of the toothbrush. However, if you look, then everything becomes quite simple.

With the power button - everything is clear, I think there is no need to clarify. Below is an indication of the intensity of work, and below the controller (+ and -), through which it is set. Next, there are three indicators with the inscriptions: “Clean”, “White” and “Deep Clean” - these are the operating modes. The first option for daily cleaning, the second mode - enamel brightening, the third - deep cleaning. Selected using the round button.At the very bottom is the battery indication. Actually, we figured out the controls.

Proprietary application

Proprietary application

One of the main highlights of the FlexCare Platinum Connected electric brush is that it works with the Philips Sonicare proprietary application. The program is protected, so there is no way to attach screenshots. However, we will try to consider the main features without a photo based on official screenshots.

The first thing I liked was the opportunity to find out which areas were skipped during cleaning. Sensors integrated in the brush monitor the process, and the application tells you which area to re-clean. Another “trick” is the ability to set daily goals. The program tracks your achievements, as it keeps a history of brushing your teeth. This allows you to achieve more effective results. In particular, individual recommendations will constantly appear on the smartphone. Yes, there are brushing techniques.

In the Sonicare application, each user can specify areas that require special care. This is very useful if the dentist pointed out certain problems: plaque formation, gum recession, etc. It is enough to indicate “special zones” on the map in the application, and the program will control the process - the tips will be more individual, the application will tell you how to pay more attention to damaged areas of the oral cavity.

FlexCare Platinum Connected Accessories

In total, the manufacturer offers 10 different types of nozzles (in addition to the standard), each of which can be installed on any model of Sonicare brushes. They are for different purposes: for whitening, improving the condition of the gums, for sensitive teeth, for the care of children's teeth, etc. Regardless of the type of nozzle, it is recommended to replace the nozzle every 3 months. It does not make sense to describe each nozzle - information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. We, in turn, will consider the features of two nozzles that are included in the standard FlexCare Platinum Connected kit: InterCare and AdaptiveClean. It is very easy to store accessories and a toothbrush in a special case.

Another important point: the cost of interchangeable nozzles varies in the range from 1500 to 3000 rubles. At the same time, you immediately buy 2 accessories of the same series for the indicated price.

InterCare nozzle

InterCare nozzle

The manufacturer positions this accessory as an effective tool for removing plaque in the interdental spaces. In addition, InterCare helps reduce gum inflammation and bleeding. It is equipped with medium-soft bristles that penetrate quite deep between the teeth. Philips claims that this nozzle can remove up to 7 times more deposits in hard-to-reach places than its counterparts in just a month of operation. Unfortunately, in the review of the electric brush I can not confirm these data, since I tested it only a few times. As for my opinion: there really isn’t a nozzle that handles cleaning very carefully, there is no threat to the gums, and after use it feels perfect.

The main features of the nozzle:

  1. Combined bristles;
  2. Deep penetration of the bristles between the teeth;
  3. Effective plaque removal;
  4. Reducing inflammation, bleeding gums;
  5. It can be used with crowns, fillings and braces; the nozzle is also suitable for veneers.

AdaptiveClean nozzle

AdaptiveClean nozzle

This nozzle is characterized by the presence of soft, flexible rubberized ribs of bristles. This indicates the possibility of the nozzle to adapt to the shape of the user's teeth. At the same time, 4 times the surface is covered, 10 times more plaque is removed compared to the previous generation of nozzles. In addition, this model attracts with more effective gum protection - cleaning is done carefully with flexible ribs.

AdaptiveClean is a nozzle that adapts to your individual gum and tooth shape. Repeating the contours, it allows for delicate cleaning. When moving along the gums, the accessory absorbs excess pressure, which guarantees the most effective and gentle cleaning.

Key Features of an Electric Toothbrush

We turn to the second part of the review of the Philips FlexCare electric brush, where I would like to pay more attention to the modes and their effectiveness. As you already understood, this model supports 3 degrees of intensity and 3 modes of brushing, regardless of the nozzle used:

  1. Clean - suitable for daily, ordinary cleaning;
  2. White - designed to remove plaque. Paired with an additional nozzle really demonstrates a high result;
  3. Deep Clean - used for hard-to-reach areas and for areas that need special attention.

In the application, you can set individual parameters by choosing one of the intensity levels taking into account personal preferences.

In addition, the model features include timer support with a report of cleaning time intervals. BrushPacer lets you know when to move to the next area of the oral cavity. Smartimer helps to comply with the recommendations of dentists to brush their teeth for 2 minutes.

Sonicare Irrigation Effect

Like all manufacturer's brushes using Sonicare technology, FlexCare Platinum Connected performs up to 31,000 cleaning movements in 1 minute. Strong dynamics contribute to the most thorough cleaning, and the result will not have to wait long. At the same time, the technology itself is noteworthy, due to which the dynamic fluid flow penetrates into the gaps of the teeth.

In this case, a light massage of the gums is carried out, blood circulation is stimulated and plaque is more effectively removed. In fact, this toothbrush produces a light irrigation effect. The result is confirmed by clinical studies, and many dentists have already managed to evaluate the quality of equipment. Actually, this fact is the reason for my personal interest in the device, despite the rather “biting price tag”.

Maximum Dental Health Care

I myself know that it is not always possible to control the pressure intensity when brushing your teeth with an ordinary toothbrush. Especially when in a hurry, often the session ends with bleeding gums. When cleaning the FlexCare Platinum Connected, you don’t have to worry about it. The fact is that when pressed strongly, a special pressure sensor starts a slight vibration, which indicates the need to weaken the movement. It is really convenient. If you believe the results of the study, then 7 out of 10 users of this model significantly reduced the intensity of movements and pressing the brush on the teeth precisely because of this function.

Constant control

A nice bonus is the ability to control the quality of the brush and all accessories - the Philips Sonicare application monitors the current state of the nozzles, taking into account the time of use and pressure. Accordingly, you can find out when the time has come to replace the nozzle.

A full charge of the electric brush lasts for 2 weeks of operation with constant use in the morning and evening. At the same time, a compact charger, brush and nozzles themselves can be taken on a business trip, thanks to a convenient travel case.

FlexCare Platinum Connected Personal Opinion

FlexCare Platinum Connected Personal Opinion

The FlexCare Platinum Connected HX9192 is the epitome of a state-of-the-art electric brush that incorporates Philips best technology. Recognition by dentists from around the world is proof of this.

As for my personal opinion - I liked the opportunity to monitor the brush’s performance, including monitoring areas, pressure. The device allows you to reduce the number of movements when cleaning due to Sonicare technology and the “irrigation effect” of the brush. You can talk about a branded application for a long time. Unfortunately, due to good protection, I can not share personal screenshots, the program prohibits them from being created.

The application allows you to get recommendations, monitor missed areas, pay attention to problem areas. In addition, it warns of the need to change the nozzle.The advantages also include the quality of the nozzles, especially AdaptiveClean. It really adapts to the shape of the teeth, provides for deep cleaning - this is felt even by an inexperienced user. There is a timer to control the cleaning process. There is plenty of battery life, in addition there is a convenient case.

Summarizing the review of an electric toothbrush

Summarizing the review of an electric toothbrush

Honestly, conflicting thoughts make sense of me. On the one hand, this is an expensive electric brush, and not everyone can afford it. On the other hand, I understand that this is a really effective device, and every user who cares about the health of their teeth will surely like it. In general, you decide. But, in my opinion, the cost of the model corresponds to the functionality, convenience, efficiency and quality.
