The rule applies to iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad mini (first generation) and iPad (second to fourth generation) devices. These devices needed to be updated to version 10.3.4 or 9.3.6, depending on the phone model. This requirement arose in connection with the transfer of GPS time, which began to negatively affect other products of the company with GPS support as early as April 6. Without the necessary updates, each device will display geolocation incorrectly. As a result, the network connection may disappear, mail may not work correctly, and so on.
What to do if you do not have time to upgrade?
To install iOS 10.3.4, you will need to make a backup of the data, after which they will need to be restored using a Mac or PC on Windows. To do this, follow these requirements:
- Connect your device to the PC via cable and launch iTunes;
- Save a backup copy of the data by clicking “Back up”;
- Turn off your device while holding the power button;
- Hold the power button with Home for 5 seconds;
- Release the power key, holding only Home for 10 seconds;
- When a notification about DFU activation appears, you need to restore the iPhone, and confirm the implementation of this task;
- At the last stage, restore the data backup.
If you could not cope with the described task, we recommend that you contact the service center of the company.
