The first impression of the smartphone is quite positive. The model is ergonomic, shimmers in the light, does not include anything superfluous. Has a relatively small thickness of the case, the aspect ratio of the screen is 18: 9. In general, a practical phone that is easy to use with one hand. Special attention is paid to this case.

Despite the low cost, the manufacturer pleased with high-quality silicone, pleasant to the touch. The ribbed surface prevents slipping out of the hands. In this case, this is not a cover for a week until a good one comes - it can and should be used. With all its appearance, the device “says”: do not buy anything superfluous, for your money you got the maximum, do not waste money. The case is easily soiled and understandable, it shimmers in the light, it looks beautiful and the design is pleasant. Of course, plastic is not of the best quality, but for my money, I think this is normal. It is not frameless and its framework is decent. From this we can conclude that the smartphone is not for young people - either for children, or for adults, or for those who want the phone to work out every penny and not “make” inconveniences.

In terms of functional elements - everything is simple here. Above the display is a conversational speaker, proximity and light sensor, front camera with flash. On the right are physical buttons, bottom connectors and a single microphone. The traditional touch buttons are replaced with on-screen ones.

From the back you can see the main camera, consisting of two sensors and a double flash. The lens does not protrude much from the body, but this is not noticeable with the case.

Slots for SIM cards and memory cards are under the cover. The battery is not removable.

Honestly, I would not like to focus on the description of the Tecno POP 2S display. In my opinion, the 5.5-inch screen is average, considering the standards of 2019, nothing remarkable.It occupies 80% of the front part, the matrix is ​​made on the basis of IPS technology, and the resolution is 1440x720. In general, the "average" with a pixel density of 293 ppi. Imperfect, but it will. Screen resolution is not what many young people are used to, who are used to expensive flagships. Given the cost of the phone, this is justified, because if you set the resolution higher, you will have to install better iron. The price will rise, so everything is logical.
Of the useful settings, we can distinguish adaptive brightness control, taking into account the level of light, as well as the vision protection mode. The sensor picks up to 5 simultaneous clicks. For a state employee, more is not necessary.

Even before receiving a smartphone for review, the network read a lot of positive reviews about the Tecno POP 2S specifically regarding the operation of both main and selfie cameras. We were convinced of this personally! Camera with artificial intelligence, understands the scene adequately. The quality of the photos is clearly not like that of a phone for 6-7 thousand, the device removes like phones at least 2 times more expensive, and its camera is the main killer feature. All state employees have problems with them.

The main camera has a dual 13-megapixel sensor with an f / 1.8 aperture and a 5P lens. Dual flash, autofocus and a module for blurring the background allow you to get quite rich frames with natural color reproduction.

The frontline is ordinary, nothing special, not bad or good, just average, for social. networks and instagram will do. It is worth adding that the selfie camera received an advanced algorithm for processing photos with bokeh effect. Artificial intelligence was applied to the “Portrait” and “Beauty” modes. Accordingly, the device can read facial features, adapt settings to get a better frame. The viewing angle is 76.9 °.

The smartphone operates on the basis of a simple 4-core MediaTek Helio A22 MT6761 chip with a clock frequency of 2 GHz. Actually, a good option for a budget phone, combined with a PowerVR GE8320 accelerator. In any case, for everyday tasks such parameters are enough. You should not count on 3D games.

As for multitasking, Android 9 and the proprietary shell cope with this task perfectly. On board the smartphone 2 gigabytes of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. There is a slot for installing an SD card, flesh up to 128 GB.

In general, a few simple applications the phone pulls at the same time, and this is already good, considering the cost.

As already mentioned, the device operates on the basis of the HIOS 5.0 interface. The graphical look looks very prestigious. At the same time, flexible parameter settings deserve special attention. When swiping to the left, there is a menu of notifications and news, it is wired in the firmware. Users are offered to download games, applications, news, recent activity, weather are displayed. If nothing could be done about this in the previous state employees, then in the new version of the OS you can remove all this - scroll to the bottom, go to the settings and everything unnecessary is easily turned off. Plus there are advertising applications in the general menu, near them there is a settings item where you can click the "do not show" button.

In addition, support for gesture control is provided: music, lock. To turn off calls and sounds, just flip the phone or close the display with your palm. Screenshots can be taken with three fingers down.

As for communications, 4G support is worth noting here - the speed is excellent. For conversations, a good speaker was implemented, no questions arose. The phone has a Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth module. NFC - no.

Thus, in a cheap Tecno POP 2S review, it’s worth saying that this phone costs more than the declared price - I’m not afraid of such a conclusion. The device lacks “fashionable goodies”, but it has a pretty good camera, a manufacturer that matches the price category, a good screen, and convenient controls. With the sound, too, everything is in order. I liked the complete headset, the quality of the cover. The only thing I can complain about is the excess of advertising, but the interface allows you to remove everything that is not needed and only 2 GB of RAM.

An AI camera is definitely a nice bonus. It adapts to almost any lighting, the exposure is easily adjustable. There is AI HDR mode. When the lighting is insufficient, then the pictures are not very good, but do not forget that this is a state employee and this is a problem for all smartphones that are below 30-40. Android 9 makes itself felt, compared to the previous model, which was on the test, everything became better. I did not feel obvious flaws in the management, even considering that I go with my phone an order of magnitude more expensive and more powerful. Of course, if you open many applications, then small lags begin.

It turns out that for less than 7 thousand rubles, users get the opportunity to get a bright phone with a good amount of memory, normal hardware and cameras that are definitely more expensive. Of course, this is not the best solution for young people, because you can’t turn on 10 applications at once, and the smartphone does not pull demanding games, the screen is not frameless like many are now used to. Nevertheless, there is nothing to complain about for the convenience of control, although I use the phone one segment higher, at least. I did not find any lags during the tests. Therefore, if you need a convenient device for everyday tasks or don’t know what to present to parents, this is definitely a worthy option.
