Types of freezers

Given the size of this equipment, it is clear that one of the most important questions that you should ask yourself before choosing a freezer is - where will the equipment stand? By the installation method, they classify:

  1. Upright freezers are a great choice for city apartments that have little free space. They are built-in and freestanding. Modern models can include up to 8 sections. Sizes vary in the range of latitude and depth from 60 by 60 to 90 by 180 centimeters. As a rule, models of European standards have a difference in size in the region of 10 centimeters;
  2. GEL freezers are designed for operation in large apartments, country houses. This type of freezer can often be found in stores. Equipment can be identified by the presence of a transparent cover. The minimum volume is 100 liters. Standard height - 85 centimeters.

Climate class

One of the most important characteristics that must be considered when choosing a freezer for a home is its freezing ability, that is, the amount of frozen food per day. This indicator can vary in the range from 20 to 200 kilograms. There are more, but they are clearly not for domestic use. With regard to this characteristic, it is necessary to take into account the climatic class of the device. The fact is that in different regions the effectiveness of freezing may vary. In the description of each model

You may find one of the following notation:

  • SN - for a subnormal climate (from 10 to 32 degrees);
  • N - for normal (from 16 to 32 degrees);
  • ST - subtropical (from 18 to 38 degrees);
  • T - tropical (from 18 to 43 degrees).

Accordingly, for the Russian market, the climatic class of which corresponds to N and SN is considered optimal. But, not in all regions. Given this feature, some manufacturers began to produce equipment with support for a wider temperature range, for example, SN-T or SN-ST.

Energy efficiency

When buying such equipment, a very important parameter is the amount of electricity consumed, since the freezer will work throughout the year. As with the refrigerator, the energy efficiency class is marked in Latin letters. The most economical ones are A +, A and B. As a rule, many models of class C or D are offered at a ridiculous price, and buyers do not pay attention to their energy efficiency. As a result, after a year on the electricity bills it becomes clear what the catch is. Therefore, it is better to overpay immediately. Especially if additional functions are installed, for example, quick defrost mode.When choosing a freezer, keep in mind that advanced models can be equipped with cold batteries, which allow you to keep cold when the power is turned off.

Selection of sizes and designs

Selection of sizes and designs

For ease of use, the internal space provides for shelves with hinged lids or drawers. Depending on their size, they can be from 2 to 6. Food is frozen on shelves and stored in boxes. The most common are the following sizes of freezers:

  • 3 compartments (2 drawers and 1 shelf) - 85 centimeters;
  • 4 compartments (3 drawers and 1 shelf) - 100 centimeters;
  • 6 compartments (4 drawers and 2 shelves) - 150 centimeters.

There are also 7 and 8 compartments, but when choosing a freezer for a home, not everyone has so much free space.

Tips for choosing a freezer

Among all the variety of equipment for freezing and storing products, there are 2 types of freezers according to the control method: mechanical and electronic. The second option is more expensive, but attracts a variety of additional features. Electronic models are equipped with a regulator, temperature indicator. Additionally can be equipped with an ice maker. Such devices include a water connection for automatic ice generation. As for the design, despite a wide range of models, the most popular are painted white or stainless steel.

No Frost System

Whether the No Frost system is needed is another fairly common question asked by many users who do not know how to choose the right freezer. Of course, its advantages are difficult to overestimate. The defrosting system prevents the formation of frost inside the chamber, which favorably affects the efficiency and service life of the equipment. In addition, there is no need to periodically defrost the device. But this is only in theory. In practice, it is still advisable to look after the equipment. However, models that work on the basis of No Frost have large dimensions.

We hope you can use these recommendations to get a really high-quality freezer to fit your needs. Good luck

    To buy, you need to consider how much food is required. It is necessary to build on this. Vertical cameras are best, this is from personal experience. I'm not fancy, still old. No No Frost system, not even close. But it works fine. Honestly do not bother, it is better to buy an average for the price.

    I use the usual two-chamber Indesit refrigerator, bought 12 years ago. I wash it only 2 times a year, no longer needed. And I fill the freezer in 3 sections exclusively with my own blanks - mushrooms, berries. I can cook minced meat for the future. For me, No Frost is important - much less trouble.
